Steffen Normark (b. 1986) is a Norwegian photographer and artist working primarily in portraiture, fashion, and fine art photography. The core of his work is rooted in a fascination with humans, presence, identity, and the interplay of light and darkness that we all carry with us. Raised above the Arctic Circle in Narvik and now based in Oslo, he creates powerful black-and-white imagery, rich in contrast, mood, and raw human emotions. His color photography glows with atmosphere, intensity, and human presence in all its forms.
Alongside his visual art, Normark has long been engaged in music, both as a performer and collaborator. He works closely with musicians and bands, creating pictures for album artwork, tour visuals, music videos, and portraits that transform the artist’s/band’s music into images. In an era of AI-generated imagery, he has deliberately embraced analog photography, describing it as a process that restores weight, tactility, and intimacy to his work. Normark’s photographs have been exhibited in galleries and collected privately, resonating with audiences drawn to photography that combines visual power with emotional intensity.
